Your Billing Rights and Responsibilities

Please take a few moments to read and understand your billing rights and responsibilities with University of Maryland Global Campus. Remember, UMGC offers several payment options, and you have 24-hour online access to your account details through the Student Account Center.

  • If you register for a course, charges are incurred and you must meet the payment deadlines.
  • If payment is not received in full by the payment due date or if overdue charges remain from a prior term, you may be subject to disenrollment procedures and disenrolled from one or all of your courses.
  • An overdue balance may cause you to lose eligibility for services, such as future registration and diplomas.
  • UMGC sends an e-statement to your preferred e-mail address after any activity to your account. However, you are responsible for keeping your contact information updated and staying informed of your account balance and due dates.
  • You are responsible for all debts incurred, regardless of whether or not an e-statement is received or payment is to be made by a third party.
  • If you are no longer interested in taking a course, you must officially drop or withdraw from the course. Do not depend on the disenrollment process to drop or withdraw you from a course. Drops and withdrawals are prorated, depending on the number of days passed since the course start date. Please check the refund schedule before dropping or withdrawing from a course. If you were awarded financial aid, you should consult the UMGC Office of Financial Aid prior to a drop or withdraw.
  • All students are subject to the policies and procedures on drops and withdrawals; however, you may request a refund exception if special extenuating circumstances arise.
  • Unpaid accounts are subject to collection procedures. Accounts that are 90 days past due may be referred to the State Central Collection Unit. Prior to this action, three dunning notifications will be sent to your preferred e-mail address.

Stay informed! To avoid penalties for nonpayment, keep your contact information updated, so you receive all of our communications with you. Be accountable. Read and understand your financial obligations while you pursue your education goals.
