Course Materials for Undergraduate Classes
At UMGC, you can complete most undergraduate degrees with little or no textbook cost. Many courses use electronic resources that are available at no cost and can be accessed directly through your online classroom.
Depending on the course, these materials may include open educational resources (OER), electronic textbooks, websites, lectures, selected documents and media, library resources, and other no-cost digital content. OER are openly licensed materials that can be used and shared in accordance with their licenses. Program directors and faculty members select and customize course materials to support course outcomes and reflect current information in the field.
Some courses require additional course materials that may have a cost. These may include textbooks, publisher courseware, software, digital tools or platforms, access codes, or other required resources. When you register for a course, check the required course materials listed in the Interactive Undergraduate Schedule of Classes to see what materials are required and whether there are associated costs.
Course Materials for Graduate Classes
Many graduate courses use electronic resources that are available at no cost to students and can be accessed through the online classroom. These may include OER, library resources, selected readings, websites, media, and other digital course materials.
