Tutoring Services for
Undergraduate Students

No-cost individualized assistance to help you achieve your academic and career goals.

Undergraduate students at University of Maryland Global Campus have online access to writing and subject tutoring via the Tutor.com platform. This can be accessed directly from each courses’ classroom by going to the "Academic Support" or “Resources” tab at the top of your course page and then clicking on "Tutoring."

Tutoring is offered to you at no cost, but there is a limit of four (4) hours of tutoring per month for each student in Tutor.com. Exceptions and the allotment of additional time can be made for students with accessibility accommodations. Note: time spent in group tutoring sessions is not counted as part of the four hour allotment. The lists of courses with subject tutoring available and group tutoring sessions can be found under each subject below.

Writing Tutoring

UMGC offers writing tutoring for all undergraduate courses. Working with a writing tutor can help you strengthen your skills and content knowledge. Writing tutors do not copy edit your work; they will review your draft to ensure that you have met the requirements in the assignment instructions. Additional writing tips and resources are available in the Effective Writing Center and on UMGC Library's Writing and Citing page.

For questions regarding writing tutoring in any undergraduate course, please contact the Effective Writing Center at writingcenter@umgc.edu .

Subject Matter Tutoring for Select Courses

UMGC offers subject matter tutoring for select undergraduate courses, listed below. Subject matter tutors can help define and explain concepts, clarify examples from course content, and guide students toward understanding a particular topic. They cannot specifically answer questions related to any homework, quiz, exam, or major project. Such questions may be addressed to the course's professor, who is the primary contact for the course. For questions regarding subject matter tutoring in any undergraduate course, please contact our Subject Tutoring Services at tutoring@umgc.edu.

Peer Tutoring

Peer subject tutors work along with UMGC’s professional subject tutors to help you in a select group of courses and subjects via our group tutoring sessions offered via Zoom: List of Group Tutoring Sessions
