Student Resolution Services Mission & Vision
At Student Resolution Services, our mission is to help learners overcome challenges and stay on course to achieve their academic and professional goals with integrity and responsibility, in alignment with UMGC’s commitment to accessible, career-relevant education.
We aim to create an environment where all UMGC learners feel supported in overcoming conflicts and challenges, with access to transparent, fair, and restorative processes that promote personal and academic growth. By nurturing accountability, integrity, and mutual respect, we aim to foster a culture of excellence where learners can focus on achieving their fullest potential inside and outside the classroom.
Five Pillars of Success
- Equity & Fairness: Ensure that all learners are treated fairly and equitably in all areas of Student Resolution Services. Learners have a right to due process designed to be transparent, centered around restorative practices, and focused on learning and growing from challenges.
- Student Accountability & Responsibility: Encourage learners to take ownership of their educational experience, actions, and decisions.
- Support & Guidance: Provide learners with the necessary resources and support to resolve conflicts and address academic concerns promptly and respectfully.
- Restorative Practices: Help learners understand the impact of their actions, learn from mistakes, and move forward with greater awareness and resilience. This is fundamental to fostering a positive and supportive learner community.
- Collaboration & Communication: We work closely with faculty, staff, and other campus units to ensure that learners have access to necessary support systems and are informed and empowered throughout the resolution process.
