UMGC Student Advisory Council Biographies

Lexi Briggs

Lexi Briggs

UMGC Asia Undergraduate Representative

Biography

Lexi is a UMGC undergraduate in Okinawa, Japan working towards her Early Childhood Education degree. She currently works in Special Education and Kindergarten at the local on-base school and finds her passion through working with kids on big emotions and social skills. Outside of school and work, Lexi’s time is filled up with her cat who enjoys going on walks and chasing crabs on the beach.

Before her adult career she grew up a military child to a dual-marine family and moved around Kansas, Virginia, California, and Japan. Lexi’s military connections introduced her to the beauty of Japan and now she forever has a travel bug to adventure outside of the United States to learn new cultures.

Joining the Student Advisory Council is a way for Lexi to actively participate in her community and continue to serve the people around her. Her goal is to listen open-mindedly and provide feedback where it may be beneficial for the student body. As a part of the Autism Spectrum community, Lexi hopes to also provide the perspective of students with disabilities and advocate for their piece in the University of Maryland Global Campus.
