Prepare to coordinate and manage laboratories in rapidly growing biological and technical fields.

The online bachelor’s degree program in laboratory management at University of Maryland Global Campus is the only one of its kind in the state of Maryland. Developed with input from employers, industry experts, and scholars to meet growing demand in the industry, this program will help you prepare to coordinate the activities that contribute to a well-ordered laboratory by combining in-depth study of scientific concepts and procedures with hands-on laboratory management exercises.

Required Major Courses: 36 Credits

Please note: Of the 36 credits of coursework required in the major, 15 lower-level credits must be transferred in. See Program Admission Requirements for more information.

  • (3 Credits, BIOL 325)
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 364)
  • (3 Credits, FINC 331)
  • (3 Credits, NSCI 301)
  • (6 Credits, BIOL 486B), two (3 Credits, BIOL 486A) courses, or any internship through Workplace Learning
    You must take this Workplace Learning course concurrently with a new internship or work project related to your academic program. Prior program approval is required.
  • (3 Credits, BIOL 495)
  • Lower-level coursework in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology, or molecular biology, including 12 credits in lab science (15 credits)

  • To pursue a major in laboratory management, you must have completed the required lower-level coursework for the laboratory management major—within an Associate of Applied Science degree program at a community college with which UMGC has an articulation agreement, within another appropriate transfer program, or at UMGC.
