How do I enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) using Safari?
Prerequisites
Must be running Safari version 15 or later
Registration Steps
- Open Safari browser
- Click Safari in the menu bar
- Select Settings from drop-down menu
- Click on the Passwords tab
- To authenticate, type the macOS user password or use Touch ID to unlock the password vault
- Locate UMGC password entry
- If it doesn't exist, click + to add an entry
- Enter UMGC username, password, and URL
- Click Setup
- Double-click the password entry to open
- Click Setup next to the verification code field
- In pop-up, do one of the following:
- If you are already enrolled in 2FA/MFA, enter the verification code
- If you are enrolling for the first time, use Setup Key or QR code
- Select Use Setup Key if prompted
- Follow the onscreen steps to complete the setup
Note: If you are unable to view the setup key or QR code, unenroll from multi-factor authentication on UMGC and re-enroll
Using MFA Code
- When accessing your UMGC account, you will be prompted for a verification code
- Click on the text area where you would normally type in the code
- Select an entry from Safari's suggestions
- Authenticate using Touch ID (or another method) to confirm identity
