How do I set up MFA at UMGC using a non-smartphone device?
Alternate and Office Phone Numbers
If you don't have access to a smart device or wish to add additional MFA backup methods, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/
- Enter your UMGC email and password.
- On the Security Info Page, click + Add sign-in method.
- From the dropdown menu, select Alternate Phone or Office Phone.
- Choose your country code.
- Enter the phone number.
- If using an Office Phone, enter the extension (if applicable).
- Click Next
- Verify the phone number by entering the code you received via call, in the pop-up screen on your computer.
- Click Verify.
- Click Done.
Note: Use alternate and office phone numbers when using landlines or non-smart mobile devices. A mobile device that is not a smartphone is a portable device primarily designed for making calls and sending texts. It typically offers limited features, such as FM radio or basic tools, and does not have advanced operating systems, internet access, or app stores. These devices often use physical keypads instead of touch screens.
