CLEP allows you to earn college credit for knowledge you have gained through self-study or past experiences. Follow these steps to register:.

- University of Maryland, College Park: Shoemaker Building, tests available Monday - Saturday, 301-314-7688
- Register for Your Exam
- Visit College Board CLEP to select and pay for your exam.
- Use UMGC's score recovery code 5804 to send scores directly to UMGC.

- Verify if your employer reimburses CLEP test fees.

Notes:
- Military Personnel: Active-duty members get one free CLEP attempt per exam at Education Offices on military installations.
- Retake Policy: A six-month waiting period is required before retaking any CLEP exam.
- UMGC Requirements: CLEP Composition exams or Excelsior Freshman English tests are accepted, but writing credits earned through CLEP must be supplemented with additional writing courses.
