Earn a Career-Focused Bachelor's Degree

Currently, UMGC offers credit—based on military rank and experience—for undergraduate courses which eligible military or veteran students can apply to their degree plan. For certain business- and management-related degree plans (like the business administration and management bachelor's degree), these credits may articulate to core business course requirements. UMGC’s career-focused programs can help you increase your marketability in high-demand field, and providing credit for your military rank recognizes that your military experience and skills can give you a head-start toward earning a degree.

 

What Credits are Available for Military Rank?

Currently, UMGC is offering a selection of undergraduate business courses for military rank, as follows:

Military rank E5 — Earn up to 3 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 110)*

Military rank E6 or E7 — Earn up to 6 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 110)*
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 365)

Military rank E8 or E9 — Earn up to 12 credits at UMGC:

  • (3 Credits, BMGT 110)*
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 365)
  • (3 Credits, BMGT 484)
  • (3 Credits, HRMN 300)

As a student, we recommend that you do not enroll in courses you may qualify for until your Academic Advisement Report/Degree Plan is complete. Please note that you will not be eligible for a tuition refund if you take any of the identified courses above and subsequently discover that these courses were eligible for credit for military rank.

* Students admitted prior to Fall 2025 will be awarded credit for BMGT 160.
