With the associate’s specialized curriculum area in foreign language area studies, you can build concentrated expertise in Arabic, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, or Korean language, culture, history, government, and literature. You’ll take 12 sequential credits in a language, followed by 12 related courses in a different discipline.

- One 3-credit course in communication, writing, or speech, chosen from the following:
- (3 Credits, ENGL 102)
- (3 Credits, ENGL 281)

- Any 3-credit COMM or SPCH courses
- Any 3-credit WRTG courses (except 486A and 486B)
- One 1-credit course, chosen from the following:
- (1 Credit, CAPL 198A)
- (1 Credit, CAPL 198B)
- (1 Credit, CAPL 198C)
- (1 Credit, BMGT 121A)
- (1 Credit, BMGT 121B)
- Any 1-credit course
- 12 credits of language core coursework; take sequential courses in a single language, usually numbered 111–112, 114–115, or 211–212
- 9 credits of foreign language area studies courses, chosen from any courses in the culture, history, language, literature, government, or politics of the area
