What are the UMGC password requirements and expiration rules?
- Length & requirements: 12-127 characters, include uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character (!@^*%).
- Password history: Must be different from your last 24 passwords; resets allowed once every 24 hours.
- Expiration: Passwords expire every 90 days; notifications start 14 days before.
- Reset: Go to password.umgc.edu
- Tips:
- Â Use a phrase: Take first letters, add capitalization/punctuation. (I Love to Eat Hotdogs Everyday → Il2e!E)
- Use a word as a seed: Modify capitalization/punctuation. (hotdog → H0t!daWg)
- Substitute numbers for letters: Replace letters with numbers. (Spiderman → Sp7d7rm7n)
- Protect your password: Change immediately if compromised; don't write it down
