Can I be a high school student and still apply?

Yes! You have a couple of pathways to start your education at UMGC, even if you haven't earned your high school diploma yet.

If You've Earned College Credits

You can meet UMGC admission requirements by:

  • Completing an associate degree from an accredited college, or
  • Completing at least 60 college credits from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

If You are Still in High School (Concurrent Enrollment)

You can take UMGC courses while finishing your high school diploma by:

  • Being at least 13 years old at the time you apply.
  • Enrolling in up to 7 credits per semester while attending a U.S. regionally accredited or state-approved high school.
  • Submitting the following required documents:
    • Written permission from a school official (such as a guidance counselor or principal).
    • A copy of your high school transcript, or documentation for homeschooling or alternative schooling.

UMGC will review your documents to determine if you can be provisionally admitted.

Tip: Contact an admissions advisor at least one month before so you have enough time to prepare!
