How does my lender’s use of ELM Resources affect my loan disbursement?

If you're using an alternative or private loan to help cover your tuition, how your funds are disbursed depends on whether your lender partners with Education Loan Management Resources (ELM Resources).

If your lender uses ELM Resources

  • Funds are sent electronically to UMGC.
  • Disbursement happens after the right-to-cancel period and once you meet your lender's enrollment requirements.

If your lender does not use ELM Resources

  • A paper check is mailed to the Office of Student Accounts.
  • If made out to UMGC, funds are applied to your account.
  • If made out to you, we'll mail it to you for a signature. Return the signed check, and we'll apply it to your account.
