What constitutes a drop versus a withdraw?

Drop

  • Must happen during the first few days of the class (based on course length).
  • Does not appear on transcripts.
  • Does not count as attempted credit.
  • No tuition charged.
  • May affect financial aid eligibility.

Withdraw

  • Must happen before 65% of the session is complete.
  • Appears on your transcript with a "W" grade.
  • Counts as attempted credit, but not as completed credit.
  • Tuition charged based on the refund schedule.
  • May impact financial aid but does not affect GPA.

Note: If you receive federal aid, contact the Office of Financial Solutions before dropping or withdrawing. You can visit our website for details at Dropping or Withdrawing with Financial Aid
