Ben Thapa

On April 8, we featured Ben Thapa, a systems engineer and proud UMGC alumnus, who built his career through early mornings, night classes, and steady persistence. After arriving from Nepal, he balanced full time work with school, turning structure and curiosity into a multi decade path in information technology. Ben is known for a people first mindset; he keeps relationships warm across borders and has played golf in all 50 states and on every continent to stay connected with friends around the world. His story highlights discipline, family support, and lifelong learning as the engines of opportunity.

Tamila Urumbaeva

On April 22, we featured Tamila Urumbaeva, a UMGC cybersecurity graduate and help desk technician, who turned a move from Uzbekistan into a path of growth through disciplined learning and persistence. She is known for a credentials first approach in technical support, pairing clear, people first communication with hands on problem solving and a Security Plus credential. Tamila pays it forward through peer mentoring, Women in Cybersecurity Leadership, and practical study playbooks.
