Sharon Grassi

On June 3, we featured Sharon Grassi a former corporate writer and designer who pivoted to full-time advocacy after her son returned from combat with severe injuries. Now the leader of Co-Op Survival, she uses the craft of making paracord leashes to build community and promote mental wellness for veterans and caregivers. As a Pillars of Strength scholar at UMGC, Sharon is pursuing her master’s in Strategic Communications, turning her lived experience into a powerful voice for military families.

Kwame Johnson

On June 17, we featured Kwame Johnson, the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, an author, and a UMGC graduate. After going to prison at 17, he found his life's passion while in solitary confinement and became the first U.S. student to take the SATs behind bars. Today, Kwame embraces his past mistakes as his superpower. He dedicates his career to being a "defender of potential," championing everyday mentorship to help young people escape poverty.
