Rooted in Classical Realism Exhibition

The UMGC Arts Program is pleased to present this exhibition of works by acclaimed artist Joseph Sheppard. Rooted in Classical Realism explores Sheppard’s talent as a draftsman and painter. The drawings featured in the exhibition were completed over the past six decades of Sheppard’s remarkable career. Some showcase the artist’s command of anatomy, while others depict full cultural experiences. All reflect Sheppard’s mastery of the medium.

The Arts Program celebrated the opening of this exhibition on June 28. At the opening reception, UMGC President Gregory W. Fowler, PhD, presented Sheppard with an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree. The artist received the honor in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the fields of art and sculpture.
