Selected Works from the UMGC Permanent Collection

Homes and Homesteads is a compilation of approximately 30 works by various artists that feature homes, structures, and scenes either in Maryland or by Maryland artists. These artworks highlight the diversity of the UMGC Permanent Collection.

A visual immersion into lives of modern-day Marylanders and those of the past, Homes and Homesteads examines the various forms and shapes of homes and community spaces. Each work explores a different lifestyle or timeline. The exhibition honors every native and long-term transplant who recognizes their city, neighborhood, or favorite spaces within our historical "Old Line" state. The founders, the farmers, and the fans of Maryland are more than represented—they are celebrated.

About Art at the Courthouse

Since its inception in 1996, the Art at the U.S. District Courthouse program has contributed greatly to our region’s cultural enrichment. The original purpose of the program was to feature works by Maryland artists, but over the years it has expanded to include international art. With exhibitions in quilting, photography, sculpture, and painting, the program continues to call attention to the diverse interests and creative talents of artists and the importance of their contributions to society.
