Earn Credit for Certifications:
Accounting, Finance, Payroll, & Fraud

University of Maryland Global Campus recognizes the depth of expertise and experience required for careers in accounting, finance, payroll, fraud prevention, bookkeeping and other financial-related careers. We are proud to offer course credit for some of the most recognized industry certifications in those fields, such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Certified Financial Planner (CFP); and several credentials from respected organizations like FINRA, the CFA Institute, and more.

UMGC will award course credit for the work experience you've gained and certifications you’ve earned, allowing you to save time and money while fulfilling course requirements that can be applied to our bachelor’s degrees in accounting, finance, and more. You may also be able to earn a limited amount of graduate credit in programs such as accounting and financial management and cyberaccounting.

Submit a Request for Credit

If you have one or more of these certifications, you must submit official documentation from the certifying organization (such as a certificate, verification code, or letter) which includes your name, the title of the certification, and the date(s) of the certification. Send this documentation to studentrecords@umgc.edu after you apply to UMGC.

Upon receipt, UMGC will assess whether the certification can be applied to your program (based on all other sources of credit you earn) and, if so, how it will be applied (major coursework, elective, or other). If UMGC does not receive the appropriate documentation, we will not be able to evaluate credit and its applicability to your degree or certificate program.
