What should I do if I need an exception to the withdrawal or refund policy?

If you're facing serious, unexpected circumstances that impact your ability to complete a course or follow the regular withdrawal or refund deadlines, you can request an exception by following the steps below:

  1. Visit the Exception to the Withdrawal Policy page.
  2. Select the DocuSign link titled Request for Exception Form.
  3. Complete and sign the form online. Be sure to finish it in one session, since you can't save your progress.
  4. Submit the completed form by email, fax, or mail (contact info is on the form).

Be sure to include any documents that support your request (like medical records or military orders).

Notes:

  • It can take up to 8 weeks to receive a decision from the committee.
  • You can check your request status by emailing exception.request@umgc.edu.
  • If you have a balance due, we recommend paying it while your request is being reviewed. If your request is approved, you may get a refund.
  • Even if you've submitted a request, your account can still be sent to the State Central Collections Unit if you don't pay your balance.

More information is available on our Refund Exceptions page.
