What should I do if I included UMGC in my bankruptcy filing?

If you included UMGC in your bankruptcy, follow these steps:

  • Send your bankruptcy documentation to collections@umgc.edu or fax it to 301-985-7858.
  • Your balance will be transferred to the Central Collections Unit (CCU), and they'll work with the Office of Attorney General (OAG) for discharge processing.
  • If your account is already with CCU, UMGC will forward the necessary documents to remove the collection hold.

Note: If your balance cannot be discharged, the collection hold will be placed back on your account, and you will be responsible for the balance. For questions about which charges can be discharged, contact your bankruptcy attorney.

If you need additional information, contact the Office of Financial Solutions at 800-888-8682 or email financialsolutions@umgc.edu.
