What is the Student Aid Index (SAI)?

The Student Aid Index (SAI) is a number used to determine your eligibility for need-based financial aid. The SAI is calculated using the information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which considers:

  • Taxed and untaxed income
  • Assets
  • Benefits
  • Family size

UMGC uses the SAI, along with the Cost of Attendance (COA), to determine your financial need and aid eligibility.
