Do UMGC's programs meet my state's professional licensure requirements?

If your career requires a license—such as teaching, accounting, or nursing—you need to know the licensure requirements in your state.

What to Know About Licensure

  • Licensure varies by state. Each state sets its own rules for education, exams, and experience.
  • A UMGC degree does not guarantee licensure. Some states may require additional courses or training.
  • Transfer credits may not count. Even if UMGC accepts them, your state’s board decides if they apply to licensure.

Examples of Licensure-Related Programs

  • Accounting
  • Education
  • Nursing (RN to BSN)

Before You Start Your Program

  • Visit the UMGC Professional Licensure webpage to see if your program aligns with your state’s requirements.
  • Contact your state licensing board for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
