How do I set up an Oculus device?

Setting Up Your Oculus Quest 2

Before you start, make sure you have your headset. If not, notify your instructor. Then:

  1. Install the Oculus App on your phone.
  2. Link your Quest 2 to your Meta account.
  3. Pair your phone with the Quest 2.
  4. (Optional) Add a payment method - not required for class.
  5. Adjust the lens spacing for comfort.
  6. Connect to Wi-Fi.
  7. Set up your play area by creating a Guardian.
  8. Calibrate tracking for accurate movement.

Installing ENGAGEVR

To join UMGC virtual classes:

  1. Create a free ENGAGEVR account at the ENGAGEVR website. Email your username and email to your instructor.
  2. Install ENGAGEVR on your Quest 2.
    • Optional: Install ENGAGEVR on your PC/Mac as backup.
    • Optional: Install ENGAGEVR on your phone/tablet (limited features).
  3. Download ENGAGEVR.
  4. Check the ENGAGEVR FAQ for troubleshooting.

Attending Your Class in ENGAGEVR

  1. Turn on your Quest 2 and put it on securely.
  2. Launch ENGAGEVR from your application library.
  3. Log in with your username/email and password.
  4. Click the blue LOG IN button.
  5. Go to EventsUniversity of Maryland Global Campus tab to find your class.
  6. RSVP or click Start/Join when your class begins.

Quick Tips

  • You'll get class invites via your UMGC email. Didn't get one? Submit a case to Support.
  • Battery life: ~2 hours. Fully charge for 3+ hours. You can use it while plugged in.
