How do I screen share my Virtual Desktop (VDA) session with UMGC support or faculty?

Your lab environment and applications are customized for your course. This feature may not be available in all lab environments.

Steps to screen share your session:

  1. Open your Virtual Lab Access.
In your UMGC Classroom, locate Virtual Lab Access in the table of contents and launch the link. This will open the Lab Broker UI and control panel.

  2. Allocate and start your lab environment.

    • If you have not already allocated your lab environment, please do so.

    • If you have, click Start Nodes to start your lab environment.

      1. Once started, click the connect button to connect to your lab machine.

  3. Access the command menu.
Once connected to your virtual lab, press the following key combination to open the Virtual Lab Machines command menu:

    • Windows/Chromebook: CTRL+ALT+SHIFT

    • Mac: CTRL+COMMAND+SHIFT

  4. Create a shared link.

    1. At the top of the command menu, select the Share drop-down option.

    2. Select Shared Link.
This action will generate a one-time encrypted link that you can send to UMGC Support or faculty, allowing them to connect to your virtual lab machine.
Note: Both you and your support staff will be able to control the virtual lab machine at the same time once the link is used.

  5. End the session.
When the support session is complete, press the same key combination to exit the command menu:

    • Windows/Chromebook: CTRL+ALT+SHIFT

    • Mac: CTRL+COMMAND+SHIFT
