How do I report a phishing attempt at UMGC?
Report Phishing in Outlook on the Web (email.umgc.edu)
- Open the suspicious email.
- Warning: Do not click any links in the message.
- In the top-right corner, select More actions (three dots).
- Choose Report > Report Phishing or Report Junk, depending on the email type.
- Follow the prompts to submit your report.
Report Phishing in the Outlook Desktop App
- Select the suspicious email.
- On the toolbar, click Report > Report Phishing.
- If the Report Phishing button is not visible, click Junk and select Phishing or Junk.
- Confirm that you want to report the message.
Note: If you don't use Outlook, forward the suspicious email with details to infosec@umgc.edu.
Tips:
- Do not click links or download attachments.
- Take a screenshot or forward the email to infosec@umgc.edu.
- If you cannot screenshot or forward, provide details: sender's email, date/time received, and any other info.
- Delete the email from your Inbox and Deleted Items.

- Report suspicious messages as soon as possible to keep your account and UMGC information safe!
- If you clicked a phishing link and shared sensitive info, notify IT Security immediately.
