How do I report a phishing attempt at UMGC?

Report Phishing in Outlook on the Web (email.umgc.edu)

  1. Open the suspicious email.
    • Warning: Do not click any links in the message.
  2. In the top-right corner, select More actions (three dots).
  3. Choose Report > Report Phishing or Report Junk, depending on the email type.
  4. Follow the prompts to submit your report.

Report Phishing in the Outlook Desktop App

  1. Select the suspicious email.
  2. On the toolbar, click Report > Report Phishing.
    • If the Report Phishing button is not visible, click Junk and select Phishing or Junk.
  3. Confirm that you want to report the message.

Note: If you don't use Outlook, forward the suspicious email with details to infosec@umgc.edu.

Tips:

  • Do not click links or download attachments.
  • Take a screenshot or forward the email to infosec@umgc.edu.
  • If you cannot screenshot or forward, provide details: sender's email, date/time received, and any other info.
  • Delete the email from your Inbox and Deleted Items.
  • Change your password right away: How Do I Reset My Password?
  • Report suspicious messages as soon as possible to keep your account and UMGC information safe!
  • If you clicked a phishing link and shared sensitive info, notify IT Security immediately.
