How do I remove a Loan Limit Exceeded hold?

If you've borrowed more than the federal loan limit, you must fix the overage before receiving more federal aid:

  • Pay the extra amount you borrowed directly to your lender.
  • Submit a Reaffirmation Letter from your lender to UMGC. This letter confirms you understand the overage and agree to repay it as part of your usual loan repayment.
  • Consolidate your loans through the Federal Direct Consolidation Loan process. If the loans that caused the overage are included, no further action is needed.

Note: Undergraduate overages must be resolved before receiving graduate-level aid.
