How do I qualify for an MHEC grant or scholarship?
To be considered for most MHEC grants or scholarships, students usually need to meet the following requirements. Each program may have different details, so be sure to check the MHEC State Financial Aid Programs webpage for specifics.
General Requirements
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), if the program requires it.
- If you can't complete the FAFSA, you may submit the MHEC One App instead.
- Apply by the priority deadline of March 15. Applications received after this date may still be considered if funds are available.
- Be a Maryland Resident. If you're a dependent student, your parent(s) must also live in Maryland.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)¯in your program of study.
- Complete the verification process if selected.
- Not be in default on any federal student loans.
