Can I take a class pass/fail?
Undergraduate degree-seeking students who have earned at least 30 credits (including 15 at UMGC) and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher may choose to take one elective course pass/fail per term, up to a maximum of 18 credits.
- Eligible Courses: Only electives can be taken pass/fail. General education, major, or certificate courses are excluded.
- Registration: You must select pass/fail when registering. Changes cannot be made after the first week.
- Grading: Grades of A, B, C, or D convert to “P” (Pass). Grades of F or FN remain unchanged.
- GPA Impact: Pass grades don’t affect your GPA, but F/FN grades do.
Note: Pass/fail is not available for graduate courses.
