What is the Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30)?
The Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30) offers education benefits to veterans and active-duty service members who served after July 1, 1985. To qualify, you must have:
- Agreed to a $100 pay reduction for 12 months
- Received an honorable discharge
- For active-duty personnel, you must have served at least two years
Benefits include a monthly stipend determined by the number of credits taken. The stipend is paid directly to the student rather than the school, with rates set annually by the federal government.
