What is the difference between Home and Host schools in a Consortium Agreement?
In a Consortium Agreement, your Home and Host schools play different roles, especially when it comes to financial aid.
Home School
- Where you are officially enrolled and earning your degree (e.g., UMGC)
- Considered a degree-seeking student at this school
- Responsible for disbursing your financial aid
- Requires approval for any courses taken elsewhere to count toward your program
- Uses your Home ID, the student ID assigned by the Home School
Host School
- Where you temporarily take courses
- Not considered a degree-seeking student at this school
- Does not disburse your financial aid
- Expects credits to transfer back to your Home School
- Uses your Host ID, the student ID assigned by the Host School
