How is my GPA calculated?
Your GPA is calculated each time a grade is posted to track your academic progress. It is the total grade points you have earned, divided by the total credits you have taken.
Here's how letter grades translate into grade points:
- A = 4.0
- B = 3.0
- C = 2.0
- D = 1.0
For example, if you earned an A in a 1-credit class (4 points) and a C in a 3-credit class (6 points), your GPA would be 2.5.
Your cumulative GPA includes all grades and credits from every course you have taken at UMGC.
