What is an FSA ID and why do I need one?

Your FSA ID is a username and password you use to log in to federal student aid websites. It acts as your legal signature and lets you:

  • Fill out and sign the FAFSA
  • Apply for federal student loans and repayment plans
  • Access your aid history

Notes:

  • One parent will also need an FSA ID if you're a dependent student.
  • You'll need your Social Security number (SSN) (if applicable) and your own email address to create an FSA ID.
