What happens to my financial aid if I switch from undergraduate to graduate status?

If you move to a graduate program or second bachelor's degree during the school year, you may need to update your FAFSA and contact Financial Aid to keep your aid accurate.

  1. Update your FAFSA
    • Log in at studentaid.gov
    • Under Student Demographics, update:
      • Grade Level:
        • 2nd bachelor's: 5th year/other undergraduate
        • Graduate: 1st-year or continuing graduate/professional
      • Degree/Certificate: Select the program you're starting
      • Bachelor's by July 1?: Choose Yes
  2. Re-sign and Re-submit: Use your FSA ID to sign and submit your updated FAFSA.
  3. Contact Financial Aid: Notify Financial Aid that your program has changed so they can update your aid.
