What happens to my financial aid if I switch from undergraduate to graduate status?
If you move to a graduate program or second bachelor's degree during the school year, you may need to update your FAFSA and contact Financial Aid to keep your aid accurate.
- Update your FAFSA
- Log in at studentaid.gov
- Under Student Demographics, update:
- Grade Level:
- 2nd bachelor's: 5th year/other undergraduate
- Graduate: 1st-year or continuing graduate/professional
- Degree/Certificate: Select the program you're starting
- Bachelor's by July 1?: Choose Yes
- Grade Level:
- Re-sign and Re-submit: Use your FSA ID to sign and submit your updated FAFSA.
- Contact Financial Aid: Notify Financial Aid that your program has changed so they can update your aid.
