How long does the FAFSA verification process take?

If your FAFSA is selected for verification by the Department of Education or UMGC, you'll need to submit documents, like tax forms or verification worksheets, to confirm the information on your application. Once you've submitted all required documents and nothing is left on your MyUMGC To-Do List:

  • Your file is usually reviewed the following week.
  • If no corrections are needed, your aid is typically awarded within 2-3 days.
  • If corrections are needed, UMGC will submit them to the Department of Education. It usually takes 3-5 days to process, and then your aid is awarded in 2-3 days.
  • UMGC will contact you directly if more information is needed. You can always check your status in the Financial Aid section of MyUMGC.
