What does a C-Code or C-Flag on my FAFSA mean?

A C-Code or C-Flag means there’s an issue on your FAFSA that requires review—such as:

  • Citizenship status
  • Defaulted loans
  • Unusual enrollment history

UMGC will automatically review your FAFSA and notify you if more information is needed by:

  • Adding items to your To-Do List
  • Sending an email notification with details

Once you submit all required documents and your To-Do List is cleared, your FAFSA is usually reviewed within one week, and financial aid is awarded 2–3 days later if everything is complete.
