How do I download and upload files from lab computers in Virtual Desktop (VDA)?
Your lab environment and applications are customized for your course. This feature may not be available in all lab environments.
Download files from your virtual environment
-
Go to: https://vdi.umgc.edu to connect to your UMGC virtual environment.
-
Once logged in, click on Desktops.
-
Click the drop-down arrow for your course desktop (e.g., Cyber Programs Desktop) and click Open.
-
Click the three lines (menu icon) at the top of the desktop screen to expand the menu bar.
-
Click Download from the top menu bar (this opens the Desktop folder).
-
Select the file(s) you want to download or browse to the Desktop to select the file(s), then click Open.
-
Select where you want to save the file and click Save.
Note: If you selected to download multiple files, the Save As window will pop up for each file. If prompted to "Download multiple files," click Allow.
Upload files from your personal computer to the virtual desktop
-
Click Upload from the top menu bar (this opens the Desktop folder).
-
On your personal computer, browse to the file(s) you want to upload to your lab environment and click Open.
-
Select Desktop at the top, or Make New Folder in your Desktop folder and click OK. The file will be placed on your desktop.
Note: Files saved to the Desktop folder are accessible from other virtual machines as well.
Access uploaded files while using lab machines in Lab Broker
-
Open Lab Broker (in Favorites), or open it in Cyber Programs.
-
Once connected to the Lab Broker environment, you'll see both Lab Broker and Windows Explorer pointing to your Desktop folder.
-
After you've connected to your lab machine, copy and paste files from the Desktop folder to your lab machine.
Note: You cannot drag and drop files to and from Windows computers.
