How do I copy and paste in the Virtual Desktop (VDA) lab using Windows file transfer?

Your lab environment and applications are customized for your course. This feature may not be available in all lab environments.

Steps to copy and paste in the virtual lab:

  1. Go to: https://vdi.umgc.edu to connect to your UMGC virtual environment.

  2. Open Lab Broker in Cyber Programs.
Note: If you have not already allocated your lab computers, please do so before continuing.

  3. Connect to a Windows computer and follow the instructions below.
Note: Checking the box on the "Open Windows PowerShell" popup and clicking "Open Windows PowerShell" will stop that box from appearing each time you connect in Lab Broker.

  4. Follow the Remote Desktop (RDP) prompts to connect to the Windows system.

  5. Enter the StudentFirst credentials.

  6. To copy and paste files from the Windows lab computer to the Desktop folder:

    • Adjust your windows to display side-by-side (as shown in the image below, if available).

  7. Right-click on the file you want to copy and select Copy.

  8. In the Desktop folder window, right-click and select Paste.

Tips:

  • You can repeat these steps for each file you want to copy to the Desktop folder, or select multiple files to copy and paste at once.

  • You may also zip multiple files and copy the zipped folder to the Desktop in a single operation.
