How do I connect to the Eduroam wireless network?

Eduroam allows you to connect to wireless internet using your UMGC username and password. Before connecting, you may need to remove or forget the existing Eduroam network from your device. See How do I - Remove/Forget a Wi-Fi Network? before proceeding to the Login section.

Eduroam Login Details

  • Username: Your UMGC username + @umgc.edu (e.g., jdoe12@umgc.edu)
    • Note: This is not your UMGC email address.
  • Password: Your regular UMGC password

To connect to Eduroam

  1. Find and select the eduroam network on your device.
  2. Enter your Eduroam username and password.
    • Most computers and Apple devices: You may be prompted to Trust a certificate - select Trust.
    • Android users, enter the following:
      • EAP Method: PEAP
      • Phase 2 Authentication: None
      • CA Certificate: Do not validate
      • Identity: yourusername@umgc.edu
      • Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
      • Password: Your UMGC password
  3. Click Join, Next, or Connect to complete the process.

Manual Configuration (if needed)

If automatic setup doesn't work, try entering these settings manually:

  • Network Name (SSID): eduroam
  • Security Type: WPA2 or WPA2-Enterprise
  • Encryption: AES (or TKIP if WPA)
  • EAP Type: TTLS
  • Authentication Protocol: PAP
  • Outer Identity: yourusername@umgc.edu

Tip: Eduroam is available at many universities and institutions worldwide. Check availability before traveling.
