What do I need to do to confirm citizenship?

If you’re asked to verify your citizenship or eligible non-citizen status for financial aid, submit both of the following:

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport)
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status (e.g., birth certificate, U.S. passport, or permanent resident card)

You must also complete the Certification of Original Documents form—available in your Student Portal To-Do List—and submit it with your documents.

Note: Documents submitted without the certification form won’t be accepted and must be resubmitted.
