How can I find out if I'm eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill?
To determine if you're eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill:
- Contact the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for eligibility information. Only the VA can determine eligibility.
- After you receive your eligibility information from the VA and register for classes, log into your MyUMGC student portal. Go to the Veteran Certification section under Finances to request certification.
- Select the appropriate semester(s) and complete the certification form for any class(es) for which you wish to use benefits. (Separate requests for certification are needed for each term.)
Important Notes
- The VA sends payments for tuition and fees (depending on your eligibility) directly to UMGC, provided the courses are applicable and you request VA certification as outlined above.
- If you're not 100% eligible, any remaining balance after the VA payment will be your responsibility.
