How do I apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program?

Only students who are 100% eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill and are being charged the out-of-state tuition rate are eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program

  1. Apply for the Post-9/11 GI Bill at VA.gov.
  2. Obtain your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA.
  3. Log in to your UMGC student account.
  4. Complete the Request for Certification form.
  5. Select Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 GI Bill).
  6. When the CH 33 Yellow Ribbon Program box appears, check the box to use Yellow Ribbon.
  7. Submit the form.
  8. Repeat this process every semester.

If you have already completed the Request for Certification Form and did not select Yellow Ribbon, email veterans.certification@umgc.edu and request to add Yellow Ribbon.

Note: If you are 100% eligible and receive the in-state tuition rate, you do not need the Yellow Ribbon program to cover the cost of your tuition and fees.
