How can I apply for the military tuition rate?

To receive the military tuition rate, submit proof of your military affiliation to residency@umgc.edu (or fax to 240-684-2153) within 30 days of applying to UMGC.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Active-duty service members (including PHS, NOAA, Selected Reserves, and National Guard)
  • Spouses of active-duty members (PHS or NOAA included)
  • Dependent children of active-duty members (PHS or NOAA included)

Required documents

Service members: One of the following:

  • Proof of service statement or letter
  • Most recent enlistment/commissioning contract
  • Tuition Assistance (TA) form showing separation/ETS date
  • Recent Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) with ETS/separation date

Note: Military ID cards are not accepted.

Spouses:

  • DEERS Form 1172, OR
  • Marriage license and one of your spouse’s service member documents above

Dependent children:

  • DEERS Form 1172
