How do I apply for an alternative loan?
To apply for a private student loan:
- Contact a lending institution (e.g., bank, credit union) of your choice for application requirements.
- After approval, the lender will contact UMGC to certify the loan.
- UMGC certification requirements include:
- Current FAFSA for the aid year
- Completed verification (if selected by the Department of Education)
- ID and statement of educational purpose
- Once certified, the lender will transfer funds to UMGC via electronic transfer or paper check.
