How can I allow someone else to access my records at UMGC?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects your student education records. Once you turn 18 or attend UMGC, your records are private—even from parents, spouses, or employers—unless you give written permission.
Note: FERPA only applies to students who have attended or are currently attending UMGC. It does not apply to applicants who were not admitted or did not enroll.

You can allow UMGC to share information about your student records with someone else by submitting a FERPA Release Form using one of these methods:

  • E-mail: studentrecords@umgc.edu
  • Fax: 240-684-2002
  • Mail: University of Maryland Global Campus, Attn: Student Records, 3501 University Blvd. East, Adelphi, MD 20783>

To learn more about FERPA, view our FERPA webpage or the Disclosure of Student Records policy.
