How do I allocate and destroy lab resources in VDA Lab Broker?

Note: Your lab environment and applications are customized for your course. This feature may not be available in all lab environments.

Follow the instructions below to allocate and destroy lab resources in Lab Broker.

Allocate Lab Resources

1. In your UMGC Classroom, please locate the Virtual Lab Access, under the table of contents and launch the Virtual Lab Access link. This will display the Lab Broker UI and control panel.

2. Click on Nodes on the right side of the course for which you want to allocate lab computer(s).

3.  Click Allocate Lab and wait while the lab node is allocated.

4. This will build and start your lab environment.

5. When the Connect buttons are active, you can connect to your lab computer.

Destroying Lab Resources

IMPORTANT: Destroying your lab computer is the same as erasing your computer's hard drive and installing a new operating system on your drive. ALL DATA will be ERASED and a new computer will be rebuilt when you allocate the lab computer again.

1. Open Lab Broker.

2. Click on Nodes and click Destroy.

3. Read the popup message carefully and type "DESTROY" as it displays on the popup message.

4. A message will appear that the lab is being destroyed. When the process completes, the lab is ready for allocation and you can follow the instructions above to allocate the lab.
