Biography

Kris McCall is the Chief Transformation Officer at University of Maryland Global Campus, where he leads Innovation Forward, an AI-enabled, future-of-work strategy focused on reimagining how a large-scale public university operates, evolves, and delivers value to learners worldwide. Since joining UMGC in 2018, he has led institution-wide transformation across academic and administrative systems, strengthened performance at scale, and advanced student-centric innovations that improve clarity, access, and outcomes for diverse learner populations.

With more than two decades of experience across higher education operations, enrollment strategy, analytics, and shared services, McCall has held senior leadership roles at Pearson Online Learning Services, Apollo Education Group, and Career Education Corporation. Across these organizations, he helped design, scale, and modernize multi-institution education enterprises, building data-driven operating models, optimizing student-facing services, and aligning strategy with execution in complex environments.

Today, McCall’s work centers on translating emerging technologies, data, and new operating models into durable, scalable capabilities positioning UMGC to thrive in a rapidly evolving educational and workforce landscape. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Northern Illinois University and a master’s degree in business management from Colorado Technical University.
