About UMGC

Sonia Ammu is a current doctoral candidate in Business Administration at UMGC. She previously received a Master of Public Health from Harvard University and a dual bachelor's degree in Global Studies and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. For the past decade, she has worked in clinical research, specifically in management of clinical trials for pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Before that, she worked as a researcher at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health.

Sonia is honored to have been nominated and selected as a global graduate representative, which will allow her to voice the needs of graduate students. She looks forward to collaborating with the university president, provost, and deans; expressing the views of graduate students; and advocating for students' academic excellence.
