Author Biography

Timothy Godlove, PhD, teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in IT and cybersecurity at University of Maryland Global Campus and advises organizations on cybersecurity and IT strategy.

Godlove is a former Federal Chief Information Officer with extensive leadership experience in information technology, cybersecurity, information assurance, Federal acquisition, and workforce development. He served as Chief Information Officer for the National Cemetery Administration within the Department of Veterans Affairs and later held senior information technology leadership roles within the Department of the Navy.

Godlove holds a PhD in information systems and information assurance policy from the University of Fairfax, an MS in administration and information resource management from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science from Chapman University.

Godlove completed the Chief Information Officer Program and Information Assurance Certification at the National Defense University and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute’s Leadership for a Democratic Society program, the VA Senior-Level Federal Acquisition Program/Project Manager Program, and the Leadership Veterans Affairs Program.

He also holds Federal Security Professional–Manager (FITSP-Manager) certification and Information Assurance certifications (CNSS/NSA 4012/4011). During his Federal career, Godlove served as Vice Chair for Managing Talent on the Federal CIO Council’s IT Workforce Committee.
